Personadirected by Ingmar Bergman could be considered the greatest film he ever created.. Barr(1987) pointed out thatPersonais not a film but a film about filming. It had been within the limelight at that point, in spite of its topic or originality. Even today, half a century later, once there are various pictures of strange things, trying back on this glorious work fifty years past with pioneering techniques, profound themes and outstanding audio-visual language, I am unable to facilitate however pay tribute. As Ohlin(2005) said that when the image fades out, the only thing he could remember is the fiction and the memory.

Today, with the rapid development of streaming media, people can read almost all the movies or TV shows on the market by purchasing monthly membership without leaving their homes. The role of posters has been increasingly overlooked, but in the early years of the film industry, people still had to pick a time from the cinema when they went to see a film. At that point, the role of the poster came into play. The role of the poster in the movie is like that of the title in the article, which is the face of the movie. If the poster of the movie is not attractive enough, how can the content of the movie attract the audience? Although the film shows a master level in its content, it also shows a lot of eye-catching places in poster design. For the following part, this blog is going to analyze 2poster designs of the film.

According to Hubner (2007), the most talking point regardingPersona are the scenes and events that approximate the “unreal”. We can see clearly from the picture at the top of the poster that the poster depicts two faces closely pressed together. The picture is very simple, there is no other superfluous content. The mask mainly tells the story of two women, an actress with mental problems and a female nurse who makes a mistake at work. The story takes place in a beach house. Therefore, this poster is a good in dictation of the storyline of the film. Look at the facial details of the two characters in the poster. Both of them are in shadow and their facial features are blurred. At the same time, the faces of the two people are very close together. There may well be a hint of the movie's plot. The use of shadows may also be intended to create a sense of mystery in the later part of the movie, when the film's story lines also revolve around their relationship.

Beneath the two faces is a "Persona" caption that clearly and succinctly tells the audience the name of the film. At the same time, the film title followed by the director's name, also give the audience a certain expectation. He has been nominated for the Academy Award for best director many times, which shows the guarantee of the quality of his films. Audiences may also choose to watch the film because they are fans of the director and see the name of the director on the poster of the film.

Let's look at the second poster. Similarly, the design of this poster is not very complicated. But unlike the previous poster, the characters on this poster show a complete face. Just like the previous poster, the characters depicted in this poster are also in a heavy shadow. The title of the film and the names of the two main heroines appear at the top of the whole poster. The advantage of this treatment is that the audience can obviously look at the text at the top and notice the names of the two heroines at the same time.

The names of the two heroines are Bibi Andersson and Liv Ullmann. The audience can easily judge that the possible protagonists of the film will be two. But the strange thing is that there is only a female face wth a strange smile in the movie poster. At the same time, combined with the analysis of the film name, we cannot help but wonder whether there will be a bridge in the later plot where the last of the two heroines kills one and the other lives the life of a dead person. Such a poster design can be said to have filled the audience's curiosity at the level of suspense.

In conclusion that, it's important for black and white posters to attract mass audiences to choose movies. The filmPersona undoubtedly plays an important role in the history of film. Its experimental and forward-looking features have been borrowed, imitated and learned by many current films, and comments about this film are endless. If I have a chance in the future, I can also analyze other critics' opinions on this film in my blog.
